She talks, I talk, everybody talks......

Oh, how I love to watch Kyla talk. And talk. And make those silly faces with her mouth/lips as she really enunciates her words. Here is from the other day, when I learned she was playing Power Girl and Power Boy at daycare.
To say she is a Drama Girl is truly an understatement.

Super Heros for girls? And did you know Lipstick...............

Driving into Elaine's house yesterday morning, Kyla piped up from the backseat. With the return of nicer weather, they've been trying (and getting away with ) staying up later and later, and I'm finding my sweet, joyful Kyla isn't always so joyful on the car ride in the AM. More like tired and contemplative. And oh, what fun she had talking out of the blue to me yesterday:

This was her ( I'm cruising along, flipping channels on the radio station, between local stations, entertainment talk radio, and satellite) ...

"Mom, I put lipstick on my owie" (she has a burn mark (like a rug burn) on the side of her face, from going face first down our slide, apparently)
"You did?"
"Yeah, it makes it feel better"
"Um, OK".

and a few minutes later:

"Mom, when can I meet a REAL SUPER HERO?"
I was speechless. I didn't know how to respond. What exactly entails a real Super Hero? Hmm....

"Well, where do you think we can meet them"

"Well, Derek (daycare pal) has a Super Hero toy...."

and on and on she went about his toy. I don't think she really knows what a super hero is.
However, when I picked her up later in the afternoon, Elaine told me that her and Eddie played "Power Girl" and "Power Boy" all day, and they kept "having" to hug about things.
As I tried to pack K2 up in the van to get on the road, she chased Eddie around to give him a hug goodbye, shouting at him, "Power Boy! Power Boy! I need a HUG!"
He did not cooperate.  LOL

Oh, the girl you will be.......

I've been saving quotes from Kyla for many months, because she sure has a lot of good ones.  It's hard to keep up with the blogging, but I always have the greatest intentions to do so.
Our ALMOST 4-year old has many sayings that are uniquely hers. She has made her presence in our home be VERY unique: she is a total "girly-girl", who loves Princess gowns, high heels (the louder the heel, the better), and loves to pretend play with any size or shape doll she can get her hands on. She's my "easy" one.
No doubt.
She will visit our friends' homes and will disappear for hours, given the right "girly" toys within her reach.  Her recent conference at "3 School" was very positive (of course), and it informed us that she takes great leadership in the pretend play department. She is good at setting up the play schemes for the other, more timid children. But, I've been told, she's not BOSSY about it, thank goodness!

Kyla is a great little shopper and can take care of her own needs pretty well.

Recently, she decided she did want to try Gymnastics class again.
We took gymnastics a year ago- when she was still 2- almost 3.  She did fine in the parent/child class. Last summer, however, she didn't want anything to do with the Independence of the 3 year old class. So we quit that.

Then she wanted to try dance. So did her sissy. We tried. They both quit. Then we tried swim lessons. She quit, and Sissy threw a tantrum every week IN THE POOL.
Then it was ice skating (more pics to come of that delightful time). She loved it-but not going for a lesson. So that was another refund.

So when she told me she was really wanting to go again, I debated with CJ. We would TRY it, and if she liked it. Great. If not, NO BIG DEAL. We are not big PUSHERS of activities, but hey, if they WANT TO TRY, then I'm all for offering the experiences.

So today (this AM) was her first session and she did WONDERFULLY! The girl never looked back and as I watched, I was full of love and pride, and many giggles. She is a sass. Look at that hand on her hip, listening to instructions.

I love her hair when it's wet, humid, or sweaty. The curls are luscious.  They flatten out with dry air.

She was in her "Jake and the Neverland Pirates" kick around Halloween, so Nana Di was generous and bought the Disney costume for her. SHE LOVED IT, as you can tell, and looked so damn cute in her black braids.

She made some real homemade "flower soup" one day. Sage was curious.

So this makes me think of another story about K2: over Keifer's bday weekend a few weeks ago, she was pretend playing with my mom (Nana Di).  She was fixing lots of interesting things in many toy bowls, etc. and came up to my Mom, and told her, " Nana, I'm making you Pepper Condiment Soup, be careful, it's HOT!"

Condiment Soup? Where in the world does a 3 year old hear that word!? LOL
She also told my mom, "I would like you to have an appreciation for Doc McStuffins, so tell me you like her!"  WHAT?? LOL
My friend started her own FACE PAINTING BUSINESS and used our girls for models for her web page. LOVE THIS:  It took her literally 5 minutes to whip out this kitty. Kyla loved it! Check out the gallery and see if you can spot my 2 girls!

PSA: if you're looking for an amazingly talented and fun face painter, K. is your gal! Give her a call or email for your next event!!! Here is the Facebook page! (TWIN CITIES, MN AREA)

Kyla got yet another Princess Dress at a consignment sale I'm selling in. She helped me this past Tuesday night, with dropping off my stuff. She saw this dress on the rack (little shopper girl) and screamed, "Mommy, I LOVE THIS DRESS!"

I told her that if it was still for sale on Thursday, we could buy it. The girl woke up Thursday, and reminded me first thing that today was THE DAY we were going to GET HER DRESS!
I wasn't sure it would still be there. Plus, it was way too $$ at $10 (at a consignment sale! LOL)
It was there. The girl bounded through the arena to pick it up. I bought it and it's since made it to our Church Livewires dance last night.

As she twirled and pranced from table to table and played games with the older, disabled adults, I realized that many people pay lots of $$ for a Princess to greet them while they eat and dance with them AT DISNEY (Land or World). HA!!!
K2 loves books and a few months ago, she found my departed Grandma's Bible, that I have on a shelf. Sneaky K2 was in bed, reading out loud to herself one night. I have no idea what she was finding, but I'm sure it was really good.
Keifer adores her big sissy. Here she was, playing with K1 in Duluth in March, while we had a visit.
And here's our Rock star, adorned with her headband. Yep, another headband girl.
 Cutie Pie.

And my final story, the same weekend she was making condiment soup for Nana, she also "read" some stories about a girl named Princess Kyla,  to Nana.  Yep, Princess Kyla the FIRST, and then she informed my mom, "did you know that the word birthstone is the Spanish word for PRESENT!?"
Someone is a bit into Sofia and other Princesses! LOL

K2 - late summer CATCH UP

The following will be a bunch of post that I've had in DRAFT form since last summer. Whoa. It has been some time! No excuses, but all excuses! LOL. Working full time has pushed me into a NO BLOGGING corner and Im' paying for it mentally- I have "blog talk" build-up in my mind!

This was Kyla girl this August, prior to a visit to the store. Yes, back in the summer she had a mind and WILL of her own when it comes to dressing. So I let her wear her swim suit - in fact, she wore it out in public for one long weekend :)

Over heard being said by Kyla, during pretend play, back in the late Summer:
"That my 'tend purse"
Overheard by her while sitting on the potty, as pictured below:
"Mama, mama: come get me. I poopy, Mama. Mama, come get me: chop chop!"

Kyla went through about about a month (October) where all she wanted to do was be a "big girl" and use the potty- we actually had her in panties for a long weekend. When we did Disney in October, she stayed in Pull-ups the whole time! However, we'd have a relapse, and we're back in the diapers. We're not sure WHY, but we're not PUSH PUSH PUSHING her (yet). :) She knows "I wear big girl panties 'go school!"

Here she is on the potty in the late summer, laughing that I would take her picture while she sits. Wow, look at how light her hair was back in the summer!

Here are the sissies, playing late summer with their dollies....Kyla began to fall in love with our Princess Baby Doll Tiana back then ("nana" she calls her)

Below, the picture shows Kyla this summer pushing her Barbie/Loving Family People around the kitchen floor to the "movie theater" (a blank wall under our kitchen bar). She took out the Barbies and had them sit and watch a movie! This girl has QUITE the imagination!
And here she was painting a bird house. Best $1 ever spent is on the wood bird houses at Michael's craft store. It is more $$ just to buy paint brushes and paint for the project! Kyla spent hours just sitting and painting. Lord knows how fast it was for Keifer to do! Ha!

There is nothing more delightful on a Monday morning.....

...than waking up to your 23 month old, whom you were worried wasn't speaking enough.....singing to herself, some Justin Bieber: "Baby, Baby, Baby, Ohhhhh....".

Yes, Kyla Whitney has the Justin bug, thanks to big sissy, K1. It really is quite sweet to hear them sing along together in the back of the van as I drive.

K2: 23 months. 'Nuff said.

A few days ago, K2 turned 23 months. My heart skipped a beat as I realized that in one month's time, she will be turning 2 years old. The same age her sister was when SHE arrived early into this world. Unimaginable to me, that K1 was this age as we prepared for K2's arrival.

Following her idol, K1, as the prepare to watch their balloons flying into the air
To us, Kyla is still "a baby". She is using lots of one word utterances and gestures and PLENTY of dramatics to communicate with us. It's sometimes hard for people to understand her "Kyla talk", so I typically will translate for her. Lately, she's been combining 2 words here and there, usually to say, "No, ___" or "clean mess". The girl cannot stand a mess- if we spill some drops of milk or she over looks the living room from upstairs (from behind the gate), she'll get agitated about the mess. Takes after her mama in that aspect! LOL
I've noticed that although she's still in 18-24 month, or 24 month, or some 2T clothing, she appears a wee bit taller to me these days. She's a full season or almost a year behind K1 in the clothing department; I was digging out things that K1 wore at 15 months for her to wear this summer! Her shoe is about a 6 1/2 or 7, and depending on the sales person, it may or may not be wide like older sis.
She adores wearing zip up sweatshirts, and insists upon wearing socks if she's barefoot at home, and has a hard time taking her shoes off. The girl loves her shoes. Shoes, shoes, shoes. I admit, her obsession and difficulty taking shoes OFF makes me a tich nervous. Like, what does that mean?
Here she is with a brand new sweat shirt from Nana Dian. She adored it; couldn't wait to put it on, zip it up and NOT take it off all night!
K1 has some crazy-good fine motor skills. She requests to "color, color" often, and will climb right up into her chair at the table. She does a VERY good job of holding the tools- she has a better grasp of markers and crayons that her sister! Here, she is showing me that she stuck the Mickey Mouse stickers each onto a glass of water. This is called 1:1 correspondence, and it's a higher level skill! Blew me away!

Last night, we were counting something (Barbies, dolls, cars?) and after CJ said "13" , Kyla said "14!" but never said it again. I think there is a lot of knowledge bumping around inside that gorgeous head of hers, and it's coming out in bits and pieces, like her sister! She understands everything we tell her, and thrives on her routine. Oh yeah, and she LOVE LOVE LOVES her sister! *sigh*
Here, she is modeling her "sticker and stamp" tattoos, that she did all on her own!

Night night, dolly

Last month, Kyla was playing w/the girls' dollhouse, when she took the fairy Barbie and put her to sleep, all on her own.I heard her saying "night, night" and when I looked, she had set up this mini-bed for Barbie. I thought she did a pretty good job at 19 months, figuring out what to put together (furniture wise) to make a bed for that long (giant in the house) Barbie! :)

"Bye"

Oh, what fun it is to watch Kyla explore the world around her, and test her independence. Last week, she started doing the "bye" randomly around the house, thinking she was hot stuff leaving mommy in the dust. She loves to climb upstairs and close the gate, thinking she will be even more independent and get into things upstairs. What a ham!

The happy dance

As I shared with you a few weeks back, Kyla is in LURVE (love) with Corduroy, the movie. She now carries the movie case around, saying "blah blah blah...ROY!". She points at the TV, then looks at us and says "ROY!". Yeah, she has communicative intent, all right.
This was another night of watching HER watch the movie. She is a damn hoot. Those little legs get SO excited that she cant' stand still, squealing with delight over her bear movie! Enjoy!

Oh, how the bear gets me talking!

OMG, is all I can say about this video !! If you want to laugh, and giggle, and just plain old have FUN, watch this video.
Kyla has NEVER in her life talked to us this much. EVER. The girl went just plain NUTSO last Sunday, when we showed her the movie "Corduroy" - based on the book of the same name. We know she enjoys bears, but if you could've seen the expression on her face in the first few seconds of this movie, your heart would've melted!!!
Enjoy- and enjoy big sissy so in tune with her baby sis. She just is so proud of her as well!
If you want to see more of the chatter, we have 2 more clips to show you HERE. ENJOY!

Apples = balls = troubling

This past weekend, we took the girls to a nearby apple orchard, where we all had a great time. Well, I THINK we all had a great time: I think Kyla was a bit perturbed that the apples were all over the ground (and everywhere!). She seemed to think ( as I was interpreting?) that the apples were balls, and there were so many of them everywhere, and spread out all over, on trees and on the ground. Here she is, walking around mumbling to herself, and showing me (pointing, actually) that they are on the ground. Enjoy.

And at the end, you'll get to hear Keifer requesting that her daddy pick her up - she got so tired walking around with a basket and trying to pick the apples!
Pictures are coming soon! Lots of great ones!

Baby, Baby, Baby, Baby

Kyla is starting to make some words out of her nonsense babble that seems to be more loud and frequent these days. Her favorite right now is "Baby" - hence, we are all baby, including inanimate objects, food, and people. LOL. She has the sweetest voice and the other day at Elaine's, she apparently very sweetly tucked a baby into a cradle and covered it with a blanket. *sigh*. The girl is a natural born snuggler - just like her big sissy. She loves to hug baby and of course, bite her instead of kiss! HA!

Enjoy our baby baby baby labeling "baby". And...as for walking, she's THISCLOSE to taking more than 1 step without us holding her or her holding something. She just has to stop thinking about what she's doing. She will be walking within days, I predict!

Kyla said:

Sunday, May 2: Kyla said "hi, dada" as CJ walked down the stairs towards her, completely unprompted. *swoon*. Then, as I was leaving for the gym, she waved to me and said "bah-bye", again, umprompted. Ahhh, baby. You are growing up too fast!
