My little Pumpkin Head

SO happy to be drawing on a pumpkin with her markers. So excited, in fact, that she decided to (independently) do an improv show of the "Many faces of Keifer!" for you again- pumpkin style!
Oh yeah, she's excited!
Spooky!
Silly !
She's a crazy cool cat
Strike a pose!
Ahhh! Frightened?
Coy
Serious silly
Sneaky!

Let's carve some pumpkins

The next step after you go and find pumpkins with your kids is to introduce them to the CARVING of the pumpkins into Jack O'Lanterns! We decided that this past Sunday was a great time to introduce the girls to this fun tradition.

Kyla picked out her pumpkin! (It's not a ball, sweetie!)
Keifer & Daddy searched high and low through the pumpkin patch for just the right pumpkin!
Awww, what a great big pumpkin! Too big for us, though!
Keifer was a wee bit excited to carve!! Daddy was sharpening the knives with the electric knife sharpener, and K1 was shirt and pants-less due to a spaghetti lunch!
Carving Kyla's "baby" pumpkin- Mama decided to make it happy because Kyla is always so damn smiley and happy!
So cute with happy moon eyes, a heart nose, and a big ol' grin
Keifer very matter-of-factly told Mama that SHE wanted to make a pumpkin with an "ANGRY" Face! Grrrr! She was happy with what Mama drew on the pumpkin....
Ta-da! Pumpkin sisters complete!
But guess what? After Keifer made her stamp of approval on the faces to be cut, she could've cared less about the actual Carving and scooping out the pumpkin guts. Hurmpf. Whatever, Keifer!!!

Apples & Pumpkins

It's that time of year again; that time when everyone you know is posting pictures of apple trees and hayrides and their kids picking apples and sitting amongst pumpkins, looking all cute. I wouldn't be a part of the crowd if I didn't do the same thing.
So, without further adu.....here is the Soupie family outing told in pictures: our adventures at a new apple orchard and the pumpkin patch!

First off, it was a mere 2 years ago this month that I found out I was PG with Kyla! I cannot believe how fast the 2 years has gone by! Two years ago, I had a 17 month old that was just finding out that she would be a big sister: the exact same age that Kyla is right now! It's really unbelievable to me that Keifer was THIS AGE when we knew I would have Kyla. Wowza.

Anyhoo, we took Keifer to an apple orchard with my friend Courtney, and her family, 2 years ago. I had dressed Keifer in the same apple outfit that I saved for Kyla to wear to our latest apple outing! Yes, I'm that dorky mom that loves it! Here are a few pictures of that fun day that we had with our little pumpkin head, picking apples and munching on them within the orchard!

Now, two weekends ago, CJ and I packed up our girls and headed to a newer (6-7 years old) and nearby apple orchard that I had heard good things about. Keifer was excited beyond belief to get to the orchard ("is this the orchard? is this the way we turn?"), and Kyla had no idea what we were taking her to do!

"Cheese" in big sissy's old apple outfit!

So excited I can't pose for you! I'll just scream through this plastic lid!

The first thing Keifer did when we arrived was run straight over to the bales of hay that were stacked up high and climb right to the very top. It was a VERY windy day when we were there!

Kyla literally had no idea what to do with herself. She didn't want to sit in the hay and just wanted to be Miss Independent and survey her surroundings, and walk around (alone!)

Big sis spotted the kids' riding tractors and decided that she should escort her little sissy to the shed to pick one out for herself

While Keifer geared up to ride her tractor, Kyla decided to cruise the yard

So excited to be riding the tractor (one of her very favorite things!)

Kyla picked an apple! (well, Mama did, but she was so thrilled!) Remember THIS VIDEO??? Yeah, she was obsessed with the apples being balls, so holding an apple = a beloved BALL to our dear Kyla! LOL

Keifer reminded us to "twist and pull" when picking apples! I think she learned that at Elaine's!
Side note: she is so beautiful (sigh)

Another highlight for Keifer was being able to hold the bucket for the apples!

My favorite picture of the day: just a girl with her daddy!

We introduced Kyla to pumpkins and boy, did she have fun! She thought they were for bouncing on! LOL
Here is a video clip (here) of her bouncing away!

At the pumpkin patch, later, Kyla was drumming her little hands on all the big pumpkins she came across.
We always like to chant "dum ditty dum ditty, dum dum dum" like one of our favorite books, Hand Hand Fingers Thumb

Super model pose- wind provided for free! Keifer trying a pumpkin as a stool!

Keifer was thrilled to find this old, dried up corn stalk amongst the pumpkin patch, and insisted on carrying it back to pay for it. This picture was RIGHT BEFORE she turned around to say something to me, and backed right over 2 pumpkins, feet over head. It was quite comical to all of us!

Here's a corn stalk!

Plunk the girls on a hay bale and insist they look at you and say "cheese!" LOL

Wordless Wednesday: So cute in her new coat

Isn't it Ironic? Don't you Think?

And here you go..."it's like rainnnnn, on your wedding day, a free ride.....when you've already paid"......

Man, did I love that song back in the day when it was popular.

Anyhoo.

Thanks to D. at And Baby Makes 3, for making me have a "duh" moment: I posted these pics on facebook and she commented on how it was ironic that Kyla ADORES my hair products. It is pretty damn ironic, isn't it?
LOL
Kyla adores holding bottles, balls, and now cell phones (fake). The first thing she does in the AM after getting dressed is head straight to my cupboards under my bathroom sink, and get out her favorite bottles to hold (and take the caps off, and put them on, repeat repeat repeat).
Have you SEEN how much hair my girl has? This girl who loves hair products? Yeah, the irony. *giggle*

Pumpkin Toes

The only way K1 lets me cut her toenails is if I also paint them for her. I should add, that is 4 of her toes: she doesn't like me to even go NEAR her pinkie toes (for some reason), and I have to cut the other 4 toe nails "very sof-i-ly" (get that? "softly").
I will admit, I will distract her somehow - when she's not squealing in mock pain, and quickly snip that long pinkie toe nail if it's the last thing I get to do! *evil laugh*
No, really.
This past Saturday, K1 picked out the brightest orange color she found in the back of my nail polish collection. What a smart girl! She realized Halloween is coming and how cute her toes would look as mini-pumpkins -why didn't I think of that?
So , I snipped and bartered and eventually got her on the couch, dish towel under her toes, to paint her little piggies. Then, we decided her big toes needed a Jack O'Lantern face on them! Voila! It was done quickly - but our girl was NOT patient enough to NOT touch the one foot- as you can see, foot on the left (which is actually her right foot, if you can see that) ended up looking like a smeary spider vs. a happy pumpkin. The foot on the right is semi-decent; decent enough for a girl who has difficulty not moving while the paint dries!

K2 is a dancer, too!

She may not have the quite the moves as her big sis, but Kyla loves nothing better than to march around in a circle, flapping her arms in her version of "getting down" :)
