BO, body odor. Whew.

You see this beautiful dancer girl? This gorgeous 3 year old who loves to RUN, jump (especially on one leg!) DANCE like is no tomorrow, bike, walk, chase her sister, rake leaves, slide, swing....etc. etc. etc.....You get the picture?

I discovered not too long ago: this girl has AWFUL, stinky, atrocious body odor coming from under her arm pits. She is 3 year old. WHO HAS THIS? Keifer does *insert sobbing here*

I have never in my life heard of such a thing. Yet, it's true. I've been looking on the web (which is always truthful, right? Ha.) But yes. I have found a ton of other moms in the same boat and I guess it's more common than you might think. Crazy, but true.

Many of the sites I visited, which were mostly baby and child rearing/development related sites, talked about switching the child's milk and dairy to organic, as many of the regular dairy has all the hormones added. Guess what? We've always only done organic dairy with the girls-save for the milk they drink at Elaine's during the week. They said to change her diet to one "more healthy'. Guess what I provide in this house? Mostly healthy options. There were also comments that many of the children who had this stinky B.O. problem were also children who were BIG FOR THEIR AGE.
Hmm. Sound familiar? My girl is in size 5-6 clothes and size 11 shoes, and there is no end to her growing! So in this case, it isn't her diet. So I blamed it on Mooshie (our egg donor). HA HA HA. Just kidding.

But I did blame CJ, as he has stinky feet- and her feet are raunchy, too. And now Kyla's feet are getting stinky.
People, we wash every day to every other day. Today, I bathed my girl prior to dance class, AFTER dance class and then after a bike ride tonight, to save her skin from drying out, I washed her 'pits and she giggled away.

I do not want to give my girl a complex. She's only 3. But I also do not want to have a smelly child. Goodness gracious. I never even CONSIDERED this about parenting. I found a site with what claims to be a natural deodorant for children. Even young children. I swooped in on the product, read a ton of information on the web, and decided to do this. Yes, we can bathe her all the time, but I don't want to be worried about this when we can't take a bath in the middle of where ever we are at.
Has anyone else every experienced this with their young children????

I am having the same issue with my 8 year old! Unbelievable. He is REALLY big for his age and people often mistake him for 10-12 year old. I need to do something, but like you...I don't want to give him a complex yet I don't want him to be labeled the stinky kid in class.

No smelly pits yet but OH MY GOSH the smelly feet! Sooooo bad. And Andy warns me that the moment they start in with the BO, pit-wise, they are getting deoderant. He was the smelly kid, guess he learned from it :(.

Graycen has this issue also. I'm interested to know how the deodorant goes. You'll have to let me know.

Wow. You never know what you are going to encounter along the parenting road. I've not heard of it but you've done a great job researching it!
