Smitten

Big sister Keifer is smitten with baby sister, Kyla. She's so in love, she wants to look for her, touch her, and try to hug and kiss her all the time. It's hard, because our Keifer girl has one big noggin, and she's already accidentally clunked Kyla in her head a few times, and managed to knock her dolly into her as well. Aye aye aye, make my heart skip with fear. But, I know babies are made tough and we'll just continue to stress the "gentle" and "inside voice"to our Keifer girl as much as we can. It seems the more we stress "quiet", the louder she gets.

A home health care nurse did a follow up visit with Mama and baby today. Kyla, thank God, has managed to gain a little over 2 ounces in the 2 days she's been home. Whew. We've been so worried because she isn't "chugging" the bottles as fast as she was when she was discharged from the Special Care Nursery on Friday. However, the nurse was very reassuring and said she would've been happy with even 1/2 an ounce gain. She also said Kyla is "relaxed" now that she's at home and hence the extra sleepiness that we saw in the nursery. I had to giggle, because our home right now isn't "relaxing" to me, but she pointed out Kyla is used to the everyday noise (and Keifer) since she heard it everyday in my womb. True enough. And it IS less noisy than the nursery, where there were other babies crying, bells and whistles at all hours of the night.
More pics to come soon!

Your girls are so sweet together. Makes me look forward to Bailey having a little sibling someday :) Congrats on bringing Kyla home!

Keifer has the biggest grin! Such a sweet big sister, I can only hope Skyler is as kind to his little brother when he comes home.

That may be the sweetest thing I've ever seen. Aidan watched the clip with me and had a big grin on his face the whole time.

I didn't read the post before I wrote this because JUST THE PICTURE makes my heart squeeze with love for those little girls. Smitten is right.

WELCOME HOME KYLA!

How sweet! I can't wait to have the twins home from the NICU. I know Phoebe can't wait to be more hands-on with her new brothers.
