The idol & other music notes

Elaine told me yesterday that during circle time at daycare, they have "Childcare Idol" and each and every time, Keifer chooses to sing the "ABC" song. She also said she does a very good job of it! I don't know what is cuter - that they have this "idol" singing thing or that K chooses the ABC's and actually sings them all for her friends! LOL

I have to learn the prayer that they sing at Elaine's previous to lunch time. The past few nights, K has been attempting to sing it, and it's so adorable to watch her fold her hands in prayer and sing - all I can get it out of her mutterings is "The Lord is Good to Me" - but have no clue what the other words are. Our prayers before meals are pretty simple, so this is great that K is learning more extravagant ones to be thankful.

I mentioned last summer that K LOVE LOVE LOVED the song "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz. Well, apparently she likes Mr. Mraz. The new song he has out with Colbie Caillat "Lucky" was on the radio the other day and Keifer actually STOPPED TALKING and seemed mesmerized by the song. She must like the pitch of his voice? And...we hadn't heard/listened to "I'm Yours "in quite some time, but when we heard it a few weeks back on the radio, she started singing along with it as if she sings it everyday. So sweet.

However, we still insist upon either the Putamayo Kids CD in the car ("Bang, bang, mama" (Bling Blang) or "Nana phone") or the Sesame Street CD. One can get very tired of these songs, but as mentioned before, it is pretty neat to listen to her sing along with all the songs. And, the other morning, she asked me for "Hello, baby"! So funny.

When Keifer was a baby, the song I relate to my time home with her initially that spring is Gwen Stefani's "Sweet Escape". I heard it the other night and was instantly brought back to that spring, of exhaustion and love and pain and uncertainty. If I was to think of last summer, I immediately think of the time my girl and I watched our music videos and I think of her favorite Jason Mraz song. I now wonder what THIS summer will hold for music for me and my girls? Hmmm.

Could it be:

The Lord is good to me
And so I thank the Lord
For giving me
The things I need
The sun and the rain and the apple seeds
Oh the Lord is good to me.

We used to sing that in elem. school around Johnny Appleseed day! Glad K loves to sing. Alex does too, but his taste is more PG-13 rated - Womanizer, Gives You Hell, etc! lol

That is what I thought the prayer likely was too. I see that I was beaten to it though :)

Edward also seems to like Jason Mraz...must be the voice. He settles right down (at least most of the time).

love hearing about the music too, I relate so much, so many songs bring back those memories. :)
